Surrounded by 2,500 acres of farms, rivers and rainforest, Hot Springs Lodge has hiking trails, waterfalls, its own tilapia pond, and of course, a hot-spring fed pool hidden within the depths of the rainforest at the end of a hiking trail. Guests can spend their days fishing, hiking, horseback riding, swimming in the rivers and hot springs or riding the zip lines at the nearby Midworld Canopy tour.

Rooms

Listen to the river flowing as you lie down to fall asleep in one of the lodge's eight rooms, built from local materials including the river rocks, teak wood ceilings made from dried cane (a relative of sugar cane). Standard rooms, $150 per night all-inclusive, are open-air and simply furnished with beds, desks, chairs and private bathrooms with hot water.

Hot Spring Lodge's honeymoon suite, known as Los Sueños de Rio (dreams of the river), $200 per night with meals included, features views of the Cañas River with terracotta tile floors, Wi-Fi, private bathrooms with hot water, fans, and a queen-sized bed.

Services & amenities

Meals, prepared three times a day, incorporate fresh bananas, water apples and other fruit picked locally with fish from their personal tilapia pond while the remainder of the vegetables come from the local farmer's market in Quepos. The menu features local Costa Rican style dishes like arroz con pollo (fried rice with chicken), but the staff are more than happy to cook fresh fish caught from the river/tilapia pond and can cook for any dietary restriction. Coffee is available in the mornings starting at 6:15 a.m. and fresh fruit and snacks are available throughout the day.

Hot Springs Lodge offers a full concierge service that can include arranging transportation for you directly from the airport in San Jose as well as organizing your activities including sport fishing excursions and tours at Manuel Antonio National Park.
