Old wagon wheels out front, cacti growing all around, walls painted rusty orange with images of animals and dessert flowers, and miles of sand just around the corner at the beach — the rancho-themed hotel is just missing some tumbleweed and a few horses.
Inside the front gates expanding almost half a block, head 'west' through the hotel's rockin' restaurant and bar to walk down the western-themed hallway adjoining Hotel Rancho de la Playa's 14 rooms.
A standard room for two people, $45 in wet season (May-Nov.), has a double bed, cable TV, private bathroom and Wi-Fi. Other rooms cost $45-$120 (depending on layout), with shared or private kitchens, up to three beds, and some can even fit seven people comfortably.
