Circular stone, umbrella-shaded tables fill the Surf Shak's courtyard, beside the dirt road that runs parallel with Dominical Beach. Underneath the canopy of the tall trees, Surf Shak serves up healthy lunches and big breakfasts to eager beachgoers.read more close
Breakfast leans toward Tex-Mex with burritos, Huevos Rancheros and the Migas, $6; scrambled eggs mixed with onions, sweet peppers and tomatoes covered in ranchero sauce served with flour tortillas, hash browns and beans.
Surf Shak covers its bases with the Costa Rican favorite, gallo pinto (mixed rice and beans), as well as French toast and pancakes. The best deal is the Starving Surfer, $4, gallo pinto, two eggs, tortillas and coffee; or alternatively you can have two pancakes, two eggs and coffee.
The lunch menu spreads out to include wraps and Paninis with vegetarian choices like the veggie hummus or, for the omnivorous, grilled chicken pesto like in the Zeus, $8, filled with balsamic sundried tomato spread, grilled sweet peppers, red onions, block olives, mixed greens and mozzarella.
A small, green building sits just off the dirt road behind a shady courtyard, a cozy place to escape Dominical's oppressive sun for a bite to eat.
Not much to it, order at the counter, food is served to you.
