A hundred yards up a pot-hole dimpled dirt road, the roar of the ocean reaches the courtyard of Domi Locos hotel. Palm fronds shade flowers running over the gravel and alongside the Jacuzzi. The iron flower lattice railing climbs around the stairs leading to the second story, retracing your eyes across the white columns and the eggshell paint veneer of the hotel's walls.read more close
Near the end of the main road that travels through Dominical, Hotel Domi Locos is close enough for a short stroll to nearby restaurants and bars, but far enough away to feel private and secluded.
Most of the rooms wrap around the central courtyard. Each of the standard rooms, $50 in the wet season (April-Nov.) with breakfast, comes with pink tile floors, yellow walls and enough space to stretch out on the floor between the full-size bed and the single bed tucked under the front window. The furnishing is completed with a dresser, A/C, hot water (sometimes) and Wi-Fi (some rooms).
Hotel Domi Locos has its own Italian tapas restaurant, Confusione, open for breakfast (included in room rate) and dinner. The restaurant serves pastas, grilled steak tenderloin, pizza and a vast selection of appetizers and tapas like the shrimp flambé, $6, soaking in a brandy marinara sauce sprinkled with mozzarella and the Alfredo pizzeta, $5; a thin crust personal pizza layered with Alfredo sauce, four cheeses, pepperoni, red onion and mushrooms.
