Palm trees, deck chairs and a smoothed cobblestone path encircle the pool; a jewel at the epicenter of Sibu Hotel in Playa Chiquita. Relax under the veranda or lean in for another drink at the poolside bar, lie out in the sun or swim under the small waterfall and you may soon forget that Playa Chiquita's only a short hike away.read more close
Relegated, but not lost to the jungle, Sibu Hotel's built on old pastureland surrounded by secondary forest in Playa Chiquita, a 10-minute walk from area restaurants and the nearest beach.
A meandering dirt road winds through the gardens, past the pool, to each of the hotel's 10 bungalows. Luxury bungalows are in the back, nearest to the forest with elevated wooden balconies that look over the hotel's gardens and courtyard. The standard bungalows, $50 in the dry season (Sep-Nov.) with breakfast, look like miniature white houses with blue roofs. Inside, guests will find blue and white rooms sparsely furnished with a queen-sized bed, bedside ledge and a place to hang clothes. Standard bungalows include a spacious bathroom, Wi-Fi and A/C.
The Sibu Hotel is only open for a breakfast as of October 16, 2013, but has plans to build a restaurant near the hotel's entrance. Breakfast includes fresh fruit, coffee, juice, toasts and eggs.
