Across the street from the bus station, Hotel Ficus Sunset Suites is perched on a hill just outside of downtown Santa Elena. It's close to the Frog Pond, Serpentarium, Orchid Garden as well as Santa Elena's restaurants, markets, coffee shops and bars.

Rooms

Baby blue, violet and yellow flowers bloom along the gravel and cement paths that take guests to the rooms. Private balconies wrap around the corner of each room, $150, featuring views of either the rainforest or the Nicoya Gulf. Tall glass windows capture light from the patio soaking in through the white curtains over the white tile and light oak wood stain walls with high ceilings. Each of these spacious and contemporary rooms includes two queen-size beds, cable TV, a coffee pot, phone, hair dryer, hot water and Wi-Fi (in most the rooms).

Services & amenities

The second floor above the lobby has some of the best views of downtown Santa Elena in all of Monteverde. Enjoy a breakfast of French toast, pancakes, or typical Costa Rican dishes like scrambled eggs, rice and beans while enjoying the sunrise over downtown Santa Elena. While lunch and dinner aren't offered at the restaurant, reception has free transportation to Hotel Heliconia's restaurant – but with Santa Elena so close by, guests have their choice of restaurants.
