The decadent dishes and fruity, fun cocktails served up nightly at Restaurante Jade Mar are less like the laidback local restaurants and more reminiscent of a luxury hotel.

It makes sense, owner Claudio Gutierrez spent years learning the business as an employee in resort kitchens and bars before leasing the formerly dormant restaurant and revamping the menu with his own tropical, yet gourmet twist.

A must-have cocktail is the Mango Colada, $5, the blended chunks of mango, fresh coconut milk and splashes of rum are refreshing and naturally sweet, wine is also available at $5 per glass.

Putting a twist on a traditional appetizer, the mixed seafood ceviche, $7, has calamari, shrimp and red snapper – instead of just plain fish - all swimming together in tangy lime juice seasoned with cilantro, salt and pepper.

The main dishes jazz up gourmet favorites such as the Cordon Bleu, the red snapper traviata, $10, is red snapper – instead of meat – stuffed with ham, cheese and shrimp, served with mashed potatoes, sautéed vegetables and garnished with fresh cucumber and tomato.

The menu's tropical influence shines in the pork ribs with fruit salsa, $10, tender pork ribs topped with pineapple, mango and papaya salsa, served with mashed potatoes and sautéed vegetables.


Jade Mar is intimate and comfortable with soft light and an open-air structure.


The staff and owner are helpful and attentive, willing to make recommendations and promptly deliver food, drinks and refills.
