Trek on the 2.2-mile Las Pailas loop trail escorted by a guide. Discover under towering trees. See and hear gurgling mud pots with bubbles forming, exploding and spraying mud. Pass by geysers, fumaroles, small volcano like formation, seasonable waterfalls. Your guide will help you train your eyes to see the wildlife inside this volcano landscaped area in the middle of the dry forest.

Follow the trail to the river to discover the 82-foot tall Oropendula Waterfall. Splash and play, swim in the turquoise pond. Take in the scenery and realize you are in the middle of Blanco River Canyon.

Feeling hungry by now? Walk to the main location where buffet lunch is served, or if you are feeling you had enough exercise for the day, a shuttle will pick you up at the waterfall entrance and take you there.

After a day in nature full of fun, rejuvenate in hot springs cement pools fed by Rincon de la Vieja National Park.

Logistics

These activities are operated inside the Rincon de la Vieja National Park and out in a private property own by a resort.

Our driver will pick you up as early as possible to arrive before 8 a.m. at the resort check in location where you will meet your guide for the hike, get a wrist band and start your adventure.

The resort supplies shuttles that run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and stop at each attraction. Depending how you arranged the transportation with us, you will either ride the shuttles or stay in our vans with our drivers and they will take you where you want to go.

Upon arrival to the Rincon de la Vieja National Park, you will need to pay the entrance fee with a credit card so you can enter the park.

After Las Pailas’ loop trail, take the river trail to the waterfall. It is about a 10-minute walk. If you want to dive in the waterfall pond, make sure you bring a towel. Otherwise, you can just ride wet in the van. Then, come back to the parking lot where the driver dropped you off, board the vehicle and head to the restaurant.

Enjoy a buffet style meal – served between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Afterwards, hop on a van and head to the hot springs site. There are lockers for you to store your valuables and clothes. A towel will be provided for you at the check in point.

You will have to walk on a flat terrain for about 10 minutes to reach the river where the hot spring cement pools and mud vessels are.

You can stay as long as you want there. When you are ready to go hop on the van to get you to the check in point
