Kick off your shoes, and meet your certified instructor — aka best friend for the next hour and a half. Based on the tides, your instructor will let you know when is the best time to surf for your skill level. Once you're all set for the lesson, the surf school will provide you with a board, rash guard, wax and plenty of moral support.
Walk down the road from the school to the main surf entrance of Playa Guiones, where you'll drop your board in the sand and watch as the instructor shows you the proper technique. Learn how to paddle, stand up on your board and position your body once you're on two feet, even before you enter the waves.
Paddle into the waves with your instructor, showing you how and which waves to catch, adjusting your form as you learn to ride. As you find your own balance, it is in your hands (or should we say, feet) to catch your own waves.
