Hotel Punta Islita accommodates indulgent guests among an impressive tiered structure designed by a renowned Costa Rican architect, Ronald Zurcher. Its colorful winding walls wield mosaic tile art and paintings from local artists, add a unique local touch to the hotel grounds.

The astonishing hilltop hotel overlooks the paradise of a manicured nine-hole golf course interwoven between jungle hills extending to the exclusive coconut-covered mocha-Frappuccino sands of Islita Beach.

Rooms

Behind wooden gates, guests have their own intimate entrances to one of Hotel Punta Islita's 56 extravagant rooms, most with ocean views. The deluxe room, $348 in wet season (April-Nov.) including breakfast, has a king or two double beds, A/C, vanity and sink, private bathroom, satellite plasma TV, safety deposit box and Wi-Fi. Out on the room's front open terrace, guests can lounge in a hammock or patio chairs and watch the sunset over the shoreline.

Services and amenities

Perched on the front of the hotel grounds, an infinity edge pool (for ages 16 and older) flows up to "Harry's Bar," where guests can enjoy refreshing cocktails and a panoramic view of the tropical dry forest hills and beach. Just below the pool deck, there's a gymnasium. Hotel Punta Islita also has a gift shop, private parking, fax and copy machines and an art gallery.

A three-minute walk east from the reception area, the Casa Spa (open daily 11 a.m. – 7 p.m., reservations required) features massages, waxing, facials, manicures, pedicures, and couple packages for ultimate pampering. Depending on the season, spa services are also available on the Islita beach.

The tiny town of Islita - comprised of just one school, soccer field, art gallery, grocery store, beach and one restaurant - is just a three-minute drive from the Hotel Punta Islita entrance. Transportation to and from all Islita town locations is free to all hotel guests.

A bounty of outdoor adventures are available across 300-acres of tropical forest at Hotel Punta Islita where guests can tee off on Islita's golf course, hit balls on the tennis court, surf on a nearby beach, take a Costa Rican cooking class, see scarlet macaws at the ARA Project, or explore miles of hiking trails in the luxuriant mountains of Islita.
