Swiss Lagarta Lodge owners, Amadeo and Regina Amacker welcome guests with a fresh chilled smoothie blend - locally grown mango, pineapple and papaya. Beyond the lobby desk, western winds blow the sweet scent of newly bloomed beach hibiscus through the balcony.
A pebble-stone path weaves through banana plants, coconut trees and bright green palms toward 12 cozy rooms spread between two buildings, all with views of the Nosara Biological Reserve. Guanacaste and Panama trees shade the grounds, swerving naturally toward the glass windows of the rooms.
The junior suite, $96, in wet season (April-Sept.), lets guests relax spaciously in a room furnished with a king sized bed, four-door armoire, rounded glass table and chairs, two bedside nightstands, A/C, safety deposit box, Wi-Fi, minifridge, and private bathroom—also with a window view of the reserve.
Two rocking chairs with footrests and a small coffee table are available beyond sliding screen doors for resting on the porch and watching the sunset.
Services & amenities
Lagarta Lodge features a tranquil swimming pool and covered poolside veranda with two hammocks, lounge chairs, pool noodles and free towels.
In an effort to minimize human impact, private hikes through the Nosara Biological Reserve (non guests, $6; free for guests), are restrictive and permitted explicitly through the Lagarta Lodge entrance.
The Lagarta Lodge owners build a sense of community in Nosara, allowing tour companies to service tours in different areas of its reserve. Guests of the lodge can arrange any of these activities at the reception desk.
Parking is also available on site.
