Doubling as a restaurant and the office of Sierpe's main tour operator, La Perla Del Sur is the place to go for a fresh seafood meal and information about the area, along with a river view.

Before ordering food, refresh with a thirst-quenching smoothie, $1.50, blended with a wide range of fresh fruit: watermelon, soursop, mango and pineapple to name a few.

Start your meal with one of the ceviches, both the red snapper, $5.50, and the shrimp, $6, come with fried green plantains that work just as well as a spoon for scooping the fish into your mouth.

The seafood dishes, always made with the varying catch of the day, are all filling and served with french fries, a romaine lettuce, tomato and avocado salad, and rice; so selecting an entrée is about personal taste. The fillet grilled fish with a red seafood sauce, $9, or the garlic fillet fish,$7, add a flavorful punch, whereas the simple fillet grilled fish, $7, is a lighter option.

For a big appetite, go with the whole fish, $8: An entire red snapper (or other catch of the day) lightly fried and served with fried green plantains and a romaine lettuce, tomato and avocado salad.

For the sugar craving, try the creamy coconut flan, $2.50.


The Sierpe River, open-air layout and rainforest inspired décor offer a laid back and nature focused feel, the water location tends to attract mosquitos but bug spray is provided at your table.
