Bar Restaurant Pizzeria Playa Carmen
Hold a slice of Pizzeria Playa Carmen's brick oven pizza at just the right angle and it almost appears to be riding along one of Playa Carmen's famous surf waves right in front of you. Plopped just a few paces from the shoreline, serving more than 20 variations of pizza, 60 local seafood and meat plates, eight salads, 15 snacks and sandwiches and 20 cocktails, Pizzeria Playa Carmen adds up to one of Santa Teresa's supreme spots.read more close
Certified bartenders use fresh local fruit to blend cocktails that pour so beautifully they should be photographed in front of the beach — oh wait, you can do that. Stop in during happy hour every day from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., and get two signature cocktails for $6. We recommend the Playa Carmen $7, Malibu, Baileys, coconut cream, banana, evaporated milk, and the Palo Verde $7, cahaca (Brazilian sugar cane rum), Cacique, guava, passion fruit, mint, lime juice.
Go ahead, snap a few pictures of your marine medley appetizer, too: seafood cocktail, $11, shrimp, crab, chunked white fish, marinated in lime, olive oil, black pepper, shallots and spices, garnished with pearl onions, green olives, tomato, served with corn tortilla chips and sliced avocado.
How you choose to tackle pizzas is at your delectable discretion, but go with whatever suits your mood; we loved all eight slices of our medium pizza Gustosa, $19, tomato sauce, mozzarella, Gorgonzola, shrimp and parsley.
Besides the incredible sunset views, you're also in for a treat with some of Santa Teresa's best people watching, mostly along the front row of tables in the long door/windowless dining room. The main spectacles are the deluxe drinks when you sit at the huge wooden U-shaped bar.
Servers at Pizzeria Playa Carmen are the real-deal, trained, experienced professionals in the restaurant industry.
