Remodeled in 2011 by California architect and designer, Sherill and Charlene Broudy, each of Alma del Pacifico's 20 secluded, vibrant rooms features an entire palette of colors from the walls to the paintings, mosaics and tapestries that fill the rooms. Meticulously styled and decorated, the hotel's unique theme pervades each of the rooms.
Inside the garden bungalows, $207, high curved ceilings and tall glass doors fill the rooms with light. Spacious and contemporary, each room has a private terrace, two showers (one indoor and one outdoor, a mini-bar, couch, and a king or two queen-size beds. In addition, all of the rooms have their own Wi-Fi connection with their own router, flat screen TV with cable, A/C, safe deposit box, coffeemaker and a mini fridge stocked with drinks and snacks.
The hotel's thatch-roof, open-air restaurant and bar faces out toward the ocean and serves the garden-variety menu of steak, chicken, fish and pasta. However, the restaurant distinguishes itself with its fresh sea food like the tuna sashimi (a large plate of freshly-sliced tuna) and the tender, butter and parsley pan-fried mahi-mahi served with golden potatoes and sautéed vegetables.
