Resbaladera - Barley and Rice Drink

Cooking Time: 30 min Yield: 4 servings Level: Intermediate


1 cup uncooked long grain rice
1 cup barley
1/2 cup cinnamon sticks
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon vanilla
4 1/5 cups milk
Sugar to taste


Combine rice and barley in a saucepan. Add water until it covers the mixture. Boil until rice is soft. Let stand for 15 minutes. Pour mixture into a blender. Add cinnamon sticks, nutmeg, vanilla, and milk. Liquefy. Transfer mix to a pitcher. Add sugar to taste. Refrigerate until chilled. Serve cold.
