Windsurfing

Steady 50 mph winds are not uncommon December through April on Arenal Lake, near the town of La Fortuna. Warm waters, mild temperatures and high winds make this spot a paradise for windsurfers. A 22-mile long man-made creation, Arenal Lake is situated next to the rumbling Arenal Volcano and is utilized  for hydroelectric power. Windsurfing lessons and gear are available at several local hotels and shops around the town of Tilaran.
