La Platanar Volcano

Location: Juan Castro Blanco National Park, Central Volcanic Mountain Range, northwest of Poas near Bajo del Toro

Altitude: 7162 feet

One of two volcanic structures in Juan Castro Blanco National Park, located in the Central Volcanic Mountain Range.  Endangered species and areas of primary forest surround this dormant volcano. The Porvenir Volcano is the other volcanic structure in the Park.
