Dominical Plaza For such a small surf town, Dominical has many of the amenities of a larger city. Visitors will find supermarkets with a nice selection of imported goods, pharmacies, internet cafes and a bank. Stock up on forgotten items in one of the many galleries or surf shops in town.

Most pharmacies have bilingual staff and an on-site doctor or pharmacist who can prescribe many prescription medications.

 

Services:

Cell Phones
Local cell phones work in the Dominical area, however reception can be intermittent. Cell phones can be rented in Costa Rica for around $10 or less a day.
 
Local Surf StandInternet
Several restaurants, bars and hotels offer their patrons free wireless service. Additionally, visitors can pay around $2 an hour for high-speed connections at an internet cafe.

Mail/Faxes
The post office, located on Dominical’s main road, is open Monday through Saturday.  In the Pueblo del Rio shopping complex, travelers can send and receive faxes at the internet café.

 

Facilities:

Banks
Cash travelers checks or exchange money at Banco de Costa Rica, located in Plaza Pacifica across from the entrance to Dominical. A Banco Nacional can be found in Uvita, 10.5 miles south on the Costanera Sur. Both banks have ATM machines.
Shopping 
Gas Stations
There is a full-service gas station one mile north of Dominical, on the road towards Quepos. Several others can be found near Uvita and Ojochal on the Costanera Sur Highway.
 
Medical Facilities
The closest major hospitals are found in Quepos and San Isidro del General. A private clinic next to the pharmacy in Pueblo del Rio offers non-emergency care and minor surgery (Tel. 2787-0129 or 8865-4064). For all major emergencies, dial 911. Dominical also has several dental offices and a chiropractic clinic with bilingual staff.
