Costa Rica Vacation Contest Official Rules:

ELIGIBILITY – This contest is open to legal residents worldwide. Entrants must be at least 18 years old at the time of entry. No purchase necessary. This contest is open to individuals only; commercial and business entities are not eligible. Employees of CostaRica.com (Sponsor) and their immediate families or persons living in the same household of such individuals are ineligible. The contest is void in Quebec, Puerto Rico and anywhere prohibited by law.

SCHEDULE - The contest begins on November 9, 2009, at 12:01 a.m. EST and ends on February 28, 2010. Online entries must be received by 11:59 p.m. EST on February 28, 2010.

HOW TO ENTER - To enter the contest, go to www.costarica.com/contests-and-giveaways and fill out the entry form. All entries that comply with the rules listed will receive identical treatment.

FACEBOOK/TWITTER CONTEST PROMOTION & RULES: As a special promotion, if the sponsor reaches its goal of 8,000 Facebook fans on its Costa Rica Travel & Life page by February 28, 2010, all Facebook fans who enter this contest will automatically receive an extra entry. If the sponsor reaches its goal of 4,500 Twitter followers by February 28, 2010 all CostaRica.com Twitter followers who enter the contest will receive an extra entry.

Contest participants may enter once via CostaRica.com, once through Facebook (by becoming a Facebook fan) and once through Twitter (by following costaricadotcom), for a total of three (3) entries. Each chance requires its own entry form; please see our Facebook page and Twitter feed for more details. If the sponsor’s Facebook and Twitter goals are reached by February 28, 2010, participants are eligible for a total of five (5) total entries.

All participants must use valid email and username accounts when entering the contest via CostaRica.com, Facebook and Twitter. Email and usernames must be valid at time of contest drawing. If your name is chosen as the winner and the sponsor cannot contact you via your email, Facebook, or Twitter username within ten (10) business days, the sponsor will draw another winner. If you enter the contest via Facebook or Twitter and are randomly chosen as the winner, you must be a current and valid Facebook Fan and/or Twitter Follower at the time of prize selection in order to redeem the prize.

ONLINE ENTRIES: All contest entries become the property of the sponsor, CostaRica.com. Entries are void if they are illegible in any way, incomplete, produced in error, or obtained through theft or fraud. By entering the contest, entrants agree to be bound by these official rules and regulations. In the case of a dispute, online entries will be considered as made by the authorized account holder of the email address submitted during entry.

CONFIDENTIALITY-  your email address, phone number and other information included in your entry form will never be sold, rented or given to any third party for commercial use, nor will the Sponsor release these lists to any third party for any reason.

CONTEST PRIZE - One (1) winner will be selected. The prize consists of a seven-day, all-inclusive vacation package for the winner and one companion (who must be at least 18 years old) to the 4-star Flamingo Beach Resort and Spa in Costa Rica. Blackout dates apply (see Exclusions).

The vacation giveaway includes deluxe lodging for two adults based on double occupancy, all meals, use of the tennis court and fitness center, one complimentary scuba diving lesson in the resort’s pool, use of snorkeling equipment one hour per day, alcoholic beverages (unlimited cocktails with house & domestic liquors including draft beers and house wines), and daily activities such as Salsa lessons and Spanish classes at Flamingo Beach Resort. Gratuities related to food and beverages are included in the vacation. The prize is valid for one year from the date of issue.

Any personal expenses such as telephone calls and other expenses not stated herein are the sole responsibility of the winner and his/her travel companion. The winner and his/her travel companion are also responsible for any expenses related to additional tours or activities not included in the contest itinerary that they may chose to participate in. No prize transfer or substitution by the winner is allowed.

EXCLUSIONS: Blackout dates: not valid 12/20/09 - 4/4/10 or 12/20/10 - 4/24/11. Vacation prize dates are subject to availability. Transportation/airfare to and from Costa Rica and the resort are not included. The vacation package does not include optional spa treatments or extra tours not listed in the contest itinerary.

WINNER SELECTION - Random selection of the winner will occur on or about March 10th, 2010 from all qualified entries received. The prize drawing will be carried out at the sponsor offices in Guadalupe, San Jose. The selected entrant will be notified by email (for all entries completed via CostaRica.com). Participants who entered the contest via Facebook or Twitter will initially be contacted through Facebook and Twitter to confirm status and eligibility. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible online entries received.

REDEMPTION AND VERIFICATION - The winner must respond within ten (10) days of prize notification in order to claim the Costa Rica Flamingo Beach Resort vacation giveaway. The winner and his/her traveling companion will be required to submit and return an affidavit/declaration of eligibility/liability release before award of the prize. Failure to comply will result in the forfeit of the prize and the selection of a substitute winner from the remaining eligible entries.

LIABILITY LIMITATIONS – The sponsor is not responsible for any issues with or malfunction of any telephone lines, online systems, servers or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any email to be received on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet, or any combination thereof, including any injury or harm to participants' or any other persons' computers related to or resulting from participation in this contest.

RIGHT TO SUSPEND/CANCEL CONTEST - If for any reason the contest giveaway is not capable of running as planned, due to an unauthorized intervention, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of CostaRica.com that corrupt or affect the administration, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this contest, the sponsor reserves the right, at its own discretion, to disqualify any individual(s) who meddle with the entry process, and/or to cancel, terminate, change or suspend the contest.

PARTICIPATION CONDITIONS - The prize is valid for one year from the date of issue. The vacation prize may not be combined with any other promotion. The winner and his/her companion must travel together on the same itinerary; regulations and conditions may apply. The winner and his/her travel companion will be responsible for all required passports, travel documents and/or insurance and immunizations. By accepting the prize, the winner and his/her travel companion agree that they understand that travel, whether in developed tourist areas or remote regions by airplane, car, boat or other conveyance, contains an inherent risk of illness, injury, accident, loss or death, which may be caused by inattention, natural forces, or other agencies, known or unknown. Winner agrees to recognize that such factors may be present before, during or after the trip.

By participating, winner and companion agree to release, discharge, and hold harmless the sponsor, CostaRica.com, and its partners, agents and their employees, directors, and representatives from any liability, losses, claims and damages arising out of their participation in the contest or any giveaway-related activities and the acceptance, use, misuse, or possession of any prize received in this contest. Participants agree (a) to be bound by these official regulations; (b) that the decisions of Sponsor are final on all matters relating to the contest; and (c) if he/she wins, to the use of his/her name and or likeness (as well as the name and/or likeness of the travel companion) for promotional and/or advertising purposes without compensation (except where prohibited by law) and upon request, to provide consent to in writing for such use.

If the contest winner declines the prize or is unavailable, an alternate winner will be selected at random from all remaining eligible entries.
