Costa Rica has a post office box mailing system with defined
addresses and zip codes. There is no mailing system with numbered home
addresses and zip codes. Thus, it might be difficult to obtain reliable
mailing address lists for residents.
Costa Rica Postal Service
(Correos de Costa Rica) provides residents of Costa Rica with mailboxes
where information about your business can be sent. You can contact
their offices directly and discuss the possibility of purchasing
reliable mailing addresses.
Although Costa Rica has a numbered
street system, everyone uses landmarks as point of references for
residential or business addresses. For this reason, very few people
actually recives mail at their residence. The most convenient and
reliable method of mail delivery is through the PO boxes located at
each city's post office.
To ensure correspondence's delivery, it is suggested that you write the address of the mailbox's holder in Spanish.
There are two ways to write a mailbox's address in Costa Rica:
1.) Apartado Postal* number - Zip Code
City, Province Country
Or
2.) Apartado Postal* number
