Traveler's Info

Every country is different. Knowing ahead of time what to expect makes for a successful, stress-free trip. Linked here is helpful travel information that visitors should know before arriving in Costa Rica.

Insider's Tip:

The Juan Santamaria International Airport is actually located in Alajuela, not San Jose. Just five minutes from the airport, Alajuela has a variety of hotels and tourist amenities and is a great travel base for many Central Valley destinations. Visitors flying in late at night, or those with super early departures will find Alajuela a convenient alternative to San Jose.

Another assortment of hotels is located on the San Jose side of the international airport in Cuidad Cariari. Here, travelers are close enough to enjoy all of the city's attractions, while avoiding most of the downtown traffic and crowds.
