Day 11: Monkeys, Sloths and Neon Frogs

I woke up at 5:00 a.m. to prepare for today’s journey to Cabo Matapalo, located at the southernmost tip of the Osa Peninsula. The group consisted of me, two members of the Marine Corps, and our guide, Manuel. Day 6: Corcovado National Park: Sirena

Today’s voyage to Corcovado’s Sirena ranger station yielded so many opportunities to see rare and exquisite animals that it even trumped yesterday’s excursion.
I saw more species during the first twenty minutes at this remote location than I did in all of the previous day; although locals have assured me that this may be attributed to plain luck.

Day 5: Corcovado National Park: San Pedrillo

Our tour left at 7:00 a.m. in a covered boat aimed at San Pedrillo, the closer of the two Corcovado ranger stations most easily accessed from Drake Bay. A small wooden building partially enclosing a number of camping tents, and a few picnic tables sat on a patch of grass just off the beach.
