Travels to Samara
Writing this a month later, I am shocked that my camera had not died sooner. How was it able to overcome all the battering and abuse I had put it through? Over the past year in Costa Rica it had survived being dropped in the jungle, slammed against cave walls, and brought along on windy days at the beach, boat excursions, and canopy tours – but apparently it couldn’t endure sitting in the middle of a harmless herd of cows. Jesse’s yoga and surf lessons – not to mention the balancing band attached to two palm trees – tend to attract quite a crowd at the southern end of the beach. My heart began beating out of my chest the moment I set eyes on the landing strip. What was I thinking, wanting to fly so badly! Today, I would overcome my fear of heights. But first, I would forget my anxieties for a ground tour of the Flying Crocodile Lodge.
