Travels to Monteverde Region
My alarm sounded, rousing me from a deep sleep. It was 6:15 a.m., and I had to be ready before the Monteverde Coffee Tour van arrived at 7:20. Our morning meal of French toast, eggs, ham, and a delicious Tree House cafe con leche, a tantalizing mix of two espresso shots and foamed milk, helped get us started.

The sun streamed in through my shades, warming my senses and encouraging me to wake up. It was a beautiful morning, and I knew it would provide ideal conditions for our day walk in the Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve. If it were anything but sunny in town, the cloud forest would surely be too rainy for comfort.

Setting aside my nervous excitement, I opened my book and tried to absorb the words on the page. I was waiting for a Grayline shuttle bus to arrive and whisk me away to Monteverde, one of my favorite places in Costa Rica. My previous visit of two days had been far too short to properly experience the area’s amazing views and varied activities. I was ready for round two.
