Travels to San Jose
The Central Valley is often ignored in favor of Costa Rica’s more famous attractions, but, as a lover of mountains and cool temperatures, it is one of my favorite areas in the country. Admittedly, San Jose is as crowded as they say, but it’s a good crowd — on weekend afternoons, clowns and musicians entertain locals in the park, artists sell their handmade wares, and the city comes alive with culture, life and love. Alajuela, Heredia and Cartago are much the same, though on a smaller scale. The word mundane doesn’t exist here.

There are so many things to love about San Jose, – live theater, music in the streets, fine dining – but peace and quiet can be hard to find in such a loud, vibrant city. So when I heard about the Spirogyra Butterfly Garden, located in San Jose’s Guadalupe neighborhood, I was intrigued. It sounded like a peaceful retreat from the city’s growing concrete jungle.

I have a trip planned to visit Drake Bay, a small town on the Osa Peninsula of Costa Rica, where I will earn my scuba certification and be able to dive at one of Costa Rica’s best diving spots, Caño Island.
Costa Rica Adventure Divers offers a wide chioce of PADI certification courses from the introductory experience, Discover Scuba to Divemaster.
