I was excited, if a little nervous, to visit the Venado Caverns today. The idea of ancient, wet rocks and sleeping bats intrigued me, but I wondered if I would feel claustrophobic. Several people had warned me that a sudden fear could envelop me; in fact, Noelia, who had been one of my guides to Rio Celeste, had told me that she can’t explore the caverns because of sudden-onset claustrophobia. I woke up and practically bounced out of bed. Today, after a volcano hike, I would head to Baldi Hot Springs and, finally, to a highly-awaited and much anticipated spa treatment at Montana de Fuego’s En Gadi Spa.
