Driving anywhere in Costa Rica can be a challenge.  If you ask any local for directions, they will always tell you how to get there, even if they really don't know where you are going: they just want to be helpful. 

There are no good road maps and often road signs, if present, are barely legible. 

We have recorded these driving directions as we actually drove the routes, often re-setting the odometer at main intersections to provide the most accurate directions for your traveling pleasure.  

Driving Directions (all depart from San José): 

1. Directions to Jaco & Points South
   Including Atenas, Orotina, Jaco, Quepos, Dominical and points in
   between

2. Directions to Dominical & Points South
    via Route 2: Including San Isidro el General, Dominical, Uvita,
    Palmar, Sierpe and points in between 

3. Directions to Arenal & Points North
     Including Sarchi, San Carlos, Arenal, Monteverde, and Guanacaste and
   points in between
