Forty kilometer-per-hour winds are not uncommon December through April on Arenal Lake. Warm waters, mild temperatures and high winds make this spot a paradise for windsurfers. A 33 square kilometer man-made creation, Arenal Lake is situated next to Arenal Volcano and is utilized for hydroelectric power. Windsurfing lessons and gear are available at several local hotels and shops around the town of Tilarán. |
