Costa Ricans love mountain biking and La Ruta de Los Conquistadores ,
a grueling coast-to-coast race held every year, is a tribute to that
passion. Several tour companies exist, based both in the U.S. and
Costa Rica, which organize bike trips ranging from one day to
week-long, and from twisting mountain roads to more leisurely coastal
rides. While single track is a rarity, miles of dirt roads that snake
through Costa Rica’s mountains provide plenty of adrenaline-fueled
action.
