About:This volcanic, rocky region boasts of being the headwaters of many of Costa Rica's rivers. Most of the forests here are second growth, though, from time to time, in remote river canyons you uncover patches of virgin growth. Vegetation is short, tropical and dry. Civilization has given wildlife a beating, but it hangs on. The region is home to a large population of birds and mammals. It is located within the Montes de Oro Protected Zone.
Facilities:There are no public facilities, only trails.Nearby Parks:Alberto Manuel Brenes Biological Reserve
