About :
The La Selva Reserve is managed by the The Organization for Tropical Studies. It is a research center devoted to the study of all aspects of the rainforest. It's a popular gathering place for scientists and students, so visitors should make their reservations early if they hope to be received.

Flora & Fauna:
The reserve is home to 400 species of local and migratory birds, 450 varieties of trees and 113 species of mammals, all of them accessible along miles of trails leading through the primary forest, abandoned plantations and pasturelands.

Getting There:
Follow the Limon Highway through the Braulio Carrillo National Park and about five miles after crossing the Sucio River, turn left towards Puerto Viejo. About 2 miles prior to reaching Puerto Viejo, the entrance to the station is well-marked.
Bus: From San José, take the Río Frío Puerto Viejo bus, ask the driver to drop you off at the road leading to the Estacion, two km (1.2 mi.) away. The OTS also runs a weekly bus from San Jose, but it is reserved for researchers and students.
