Abangares Gold Mines Eco-Museum

The Eco-Museum was founded in 1987 on the site of the first gold mining in Costa Rica. It features an outdoor display of equipment associated with the gold fever that burned in the country at the turn of the century.

The museum also has picnic areas, view points and trails for hiking.

Hours: Sunday through Tuesdays, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

 

Historical Museum Casona de Santa Rosa

Located 42 kilometers north of Liberia on the inter-American highway Santa Rosa, Costa Rica

The historical battle of Santa Rosa of 1856 is depicted in this museum.

Hours: Monday to Sunday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

 

Museum of the Sabanero

Located 300 meters south and 100 meters the west of the police station
Liberia, Costa Rica


A tribute to the history and spirit of the Costa Rican Sabanero, or cowboy. Displays photographs, drawing and old tools used by cowboys in the Guanacaste province.

Hours: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 2 to 5 p.m.
