Destinations - Cities and Towns

San José is a vibrant cosmopolitan city with all the conveniences of other modern cities - department stores, Internet cafes, shopping malls, fast food chains and universities. Air quality, however, is substandard, with smog levels regularly exceeding recommended levels. The capital’s narrow streets are also gridlocked for much of the day, contributing to both the pollution and high noise levels.

Shopping at the Central Market in San Jose is a must-do for those who crave culture.  Strange tropical fruits and vegetables fill the bins of the street vendors, while the flower and spice shop’s sweet aromas waft through the market.  Here is where the best prices can be found on souvenirs, fruits and well, just about anything you might need (pots and pans, shoes, make-up, clothing, cleaning supplies, etc).

The city itself never sleeps, boasting excellent dining and nightlife. Visitors are often impressed by the fabulous shopping and the warm hospitality of locals.   From excellent shopping and fine dining to discos and casinos, San Jose will keep you entertained from dawn to dusk.
