Several tour companies in Cahuita offer tours including waterfall hikes, trips to Tortuguero and guided birding hikes.
Land Activities:
Bird and Wildlife Watching
Whether strolling along the trails of Cahuita National Park or sunbathing on one of several beaches, visitors are likely to spot howler monkeys and white-faced monkeys, sloths, iguanas, and toucans.
Chocolate Tour
Tour an old cacao plantation, sample cacao fruits and learn about the ecology of the South Caribbean.

Hiking
Many tour companies feature guided jungle walks in Cahuita National Park, Gandoca-Manzanillo National Wildlife Refuge and to various waterfalls in the Bribri Reservation. Trails in Cahuita National Park are easy to follow and provide hours of level hiking.
Horseback Riding
Gallop along the beach at sunset or enjoy a half-day guided trip through local plantations. Horses and guides can be rented through several operators in town.

Fishing
Try artisan fishing with a local fisherman in a dug-out canoe. Fishing is practiced in the traditional way using a hand-line and hooks.
Dolphin Tours
Tour the calm waters off Cahuita and hopefully spot dolphins and other marine life with the help of a naturalist guide.
Snorkeling
The reefs off Cahuita National Park are excellent habitats for a variety of marine life. Equipment can be rented or purchased in town and boat trips can be arranged that include snorkeling, snacks and a walk through Cahuita National Park. Read more about snorkeling in the South Caribbean
Music and Festivals:
Walter Ferguson
For a taste of Calypso, visitors should sample the music of this fine musician who moved to Cahuita from Panama at an early age. His songs include anecdotes about his childhood in poverty stricken Panama and are a great source of Afro-Caribe culture. Walter Ferguson, known locally as Mr. Gavitt, has several CD's for sale throughout the country of Costa Rica.
National Carnival
Cahuita celebrates a national carnival during the last 10 days of November each year.
