Phones
Cell
phones rented or purchased in Costa Rica work in Santa Elena in some of
the higher points, but when traveling through valleys and while in
forests, service is intermittent or unavailable.
Internet
Several
internet cafes are scattered in and around Santa Elena. Some, like the
Tree House Internet café, offer free internet with meals. No wide
range wireless service is available yet, but there is an internet café
in Cerro Plano that offers wireless access from its building. It is
located across from the Hotel Heliconia.

Banks
There is a Banco Nacional in Santa Elena with an ATM for cash withdrawals.
Dollars and traveler's checks less than $100 can be exchanged at the Hotel Camino Verde; they charge a commission.
Medical Facilities
Centro Médico Santa Elena is located on the same road as the Ranario
and is also a pharmacy. It is on the right as you are going uphill
from the intersection below the grocery store. (645-7110- call 1st)
Another 24 hour emergency clinic is below the Moon Shiva Restaurant in Cerro Plano (645-7778/ 304-2121).
There
is also the Red Cross (Cruz Roja) providing ambulance and emergency
services. They are open 24 hrs a day and located slightly north of
Santa Elena Village. (645-6128)
