About:
Samara is a mellow beach town located on the western shore of the Nicoya Peninsula in the Guanacaste Province. It is a five-hour journey by car from San José via the recently constructed Tempisque River Bridge.
Its clean white sand beach has gentle rolling waves that are ideal for beginner surfers. The waters are warm and perfect for swimming, courtesy of coral reefs which protect the shore. Nearby beaches include Playas Carillo, Nosara, Guiones and Pelada—all equally beautiful and each with their own distinct characteristics.
Samara has a central commercial zone where several hotels, mini-supermarkets, clothing stores, souvenir shops, artisan stands and galleries are located. Most are within walking distance from one another.
After a lazy day in the sun, oceanfront dining and entertainment can be enjoyed in one of several restaurants and bars that dot the beach. Internet access is available at the Skynet Tour office and at Seanet next to the soccer field. Do not forget to visit the Guanafruth fruit stand where they serve a fountain drink of pipa fria.
