Places to Stay in Tortuguero

A handful of colorful seaside cabinas and family-run hotels can be found in Tortuguero village. Most cater to budget and mid-range travelers and offer rustic yet comfortable accommodations. A couple of B&B’s feature a slightly more upscale option, and come complete with hearty breakfasts and private balconies with hammocks.

Travelers in search of all-inclusive lodging have several choices north of the village. All lodges have single and multi-day packages including transportation from San Jose, buffet meals, lodging and guided tours.

Hotels and lodges accept walk-ins, but rooms fill up quickly in the high season (December-April). Reservations are also recommended if visiting Tortuguero during peak turtle nesting season, during July and August.
