Places to Stay in San Jose

 
Whether you want the excitement of the inner city, or the tranquility of the suburban areas around San Jose,  there are accommodations available to suit all tastes and budgets.  

Several youth hostels in central San Jose cater to backpackers and budget travelers. The historic areas of La Sabana and Barrio Amon offer plenty of  mid-range and upscale hotels. 

For visitors in search of a more peaceful locale, luxury hotels featuring lavish decor and modern amenities can be found a few kilometers outside of the city in the suburbs of Escazu, Los Yoses and Santa Ana.

With the abundance of hostels, hotels and luxury resorts, advance reservations are not always necessary, although travelers visiting in the high season (December through April) are advised to book rooms in advance. During Christmas and Easter weeks, visitors should reserve hotels at least three weeks prior to arrival.
