There is no shortage of hotels in Monteverde. Several budget hostels with shared baths (starting at $5 per night) can be found in Santa Elena. There are several upscale hotels in the area as well, all with spectacular views and luxurious amenities. Many offer packages that include food, accommodation, tours and transfers. Many of the budget hotels are located in or on the outskirts of town where easy walking access to Santa Elena is appreciated. As you go out of town, towards both the Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Preserve and the Santa Elena Reserve, there are windy mountainous roads that are filled with mid-range to luxury hotels, some with views of the Arenal Volcano or of the Gulf of Nicoya.
